About turmeric I will write a separate post as it is such a healthy remedy and it deserve separate place here on the blog. I will do it soon. But just in a few word curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. I am lucky as in one of the bio shop near my apartment, I can always buy a fresh root of turmeric so I add it into smoothies, I prepare a cold/flu fighter drink (will post it as well, as it works wonderfully) and of course for cooking. But don’t worry, dry turmeric (spice) is perfectly fine with all the benefits and I use it as well if I don’t have the fresh one. Turmeric spice you will find in the regular grocery shop.
Below a recipe for a very healthy, filling smoothie, which I really love. Weekend is coming so I’m sure it will be perfect for Saturday-Sunday start to the day, after morning workout :) Yes, I try to motivate you not only for healthy food, but also for daily exercises and balanced, active lifestyle.
What you need:
- ½ Mango
- 1 Banan
- ½ of cooked millet
- ½ avocado
- ½ stalk of green celery
- Juice from 2 oranges (you can also use just full oranges and mix them directly in the mixer jar)
- 1 cm of fresh ginger or 1tbs of dry ginger (spice)
- 1 cm of fresh turmeric or 1 tbs of dry turmeric (spice)
- 2 glasses of water
- 1 tbs of honey
Mix everything until smooth. It will come for about 4 servings (1 litre). If you wish to make smaller amount just cut the quantity of each ingredient. And again, if you miss any of the fruit, just replace it with something else. Just take it as an inspiration. Enjoy!
