Morning habits: 6 tips for mindful, energetic and healthy start!

23 November 2017

What are your morning routines? Are you an early sun catcher? Or maybe a social media lover, spending first minutes after waking up on facebook, instagram or twitter? Many of us are also masters in pressing snooze buttons for half an hour and then being late with everything else. Waking up 30 min earlier and dedicating some extra time for yourself will take enormous amount of stress from your mornings. Balance is a key , so dedicate equal attention to your mind soul and body. By including  positive, healthy and mindful routines to your mornings, you can change the mindset for entire day. Starting the day in a good, positive way, with enough hours of sleep, the day is simply better. Balanced morning routine will  fulfill your day on a few levels: with respect to body and health, it will boost your energy and nourish your soul, as well as will help you to use your time in a productive way without stressing.

1.Tip for healthy sleep: Listen to your biological clock

Observe and listen to your body- it will show you “your way”, which is perfect for you and your body.  I realized that for many years I have been acting against it. I always have the “crisis” hour around 10-11pm, and this is the perfect time for me to go to sleep. As soon as I prolong this time, especially until midnight or later, I may need longer time to fall a sleep. The quality of sleep is simply not the same.  Try to make your sleeping routine, and follow it every day. Create a routine of giving your brain a signal that you are preparing to relax and sleep, for example by putting on your wrists a few drops of lavender oil. If you will keep repeating it every time you are ready to go to sleep, after a while your brain will take it as a signal to slow down every time you put lavender oil on your wrists. Choose your own way.

2.Tip for waking up your body in a non stressful way: breathing exercise and yoga

Instead of jumping into your phone immediately after you wake up, sit on the bed with straight spine. Take 10 deep breaths with closed eyes. Make them deep and slow with full awareness. Take inhalations counting for 3 and make the exhalation longer, counting for 5.  After, do a yoga practice for 10-15 minutes. Gentle, morning yoga, will change your entire day. Try to make it your habit.

3.Tip for waking boosting your energy

After practice, make a few minutes of dry brush massage , which will increase the blood circulation and will help to remove toxins of your body. After take a shower with mindfulness. Feel every drop of the water on your body. Put your favorite body oil. You will feel much more energy for the rest of the day.

4. Tip for feeling fulfilled and happy: Start the day with affirmations and gratitude

Start the day with positive thoughts. As soon as you wake up say “thank you” for the day which is starting and for few other things which comes to your mind. It can be anything. Read here my post about positive results of practicing gratitude. It will change your focus immediately into something positive and you simply change perspective. Practicing gratitude can be your key to feel more happy. You can add some affirmations. If you have some challenges that day, say loudly, “I will manage whatever comes”.  Make positive affirmation about things you want to achieve. It is perfect way to put you in the motivational mood to achieve it.

5.Tip for nourishing your body: drink warm water and eat! And don’t say you are not a “breakfast person”

Breakfast is important. This was written so many times. And its true. Our body after 7-8 hours of sleep, needs hydration and nutrition. Prepare a cup with water the evening before, so in the morning you will just mix it with a bit of hot water and lemon juice. Our internal organs needs to be clean. Continue with  nutritious breakfast: rich green smoothie or a cocktail with fruits and healthy turmeric,or warm millet with fruits, or juice and toast with avocado. Your body will really thank you for it.

6.Tip for productivity without pressure: write a journal with your goals and tasks for the day

If you want to be productive and in the same time keep your balance, write down the journal with your goals and steps you need to do in order to achieve it. Write down things you want to focus on. It can also be a calendar. Write down all the tasks for the next day already the evening before. Mark the most important- so if accomplished, it will make you feel satisfied.  Write down things connected to your passions and private things, as well as tasks you need to do in your job. It is not to stress about them, but to add a little bit of order so you don’t feel lost.

7.Tip for feeling less stressed : prepare few things the evening before

Searching for keys, wallet or all other things you need in the morning, can add lots of stress before you even start the day properly. Prepare your bag the evening before. Even the cloths you want to wear. It can save you additional 15 minutes and lots of morning stress.
